David Katz

Director of International Programs

David Katz grew up in the hardwood forests near Ithaca, New York. He graduated from Binghamton University in ’05 with a BA in Geology and minor in Ecology. David was one of the founding members of the Cornell Tree Climbing program. Since then he has instructed courses, expeditions and trainings for COE amounting to over 350 field days.  David has led over 10 expeditions with Cornell to the giant sequoia forests of California and Costa Rica, as well as a few exploratory expeditions to Madagascar and the Republic of Georgia. In addition to his work as an expedition leader, David is a professional filmmaker and photographer who’s work has appeared on National Geographic Kids, PBS Nature and Outside Magazine. An avid explorer at heart, David has traveled to over 85 countries, and enjoys time spent exploring his the beautiful Finger Lakes Region of New York.
